Visiting Iran
Is Iran safe for women travelers?+
Yes — by most measures Iran is one of the safer countries in the region for foreign women. Violent crime against tourists is rare, and Iranian hospitality is unusually warm. The main adjustments are around the dress code and a few cultural norms, which your guide will brief you on before arrival.
Do I have to wear a hijab?+
All women, foreign and local, are legally required to cover their hair in public in Iran. A loose scarf draped over the head is sufficient — it does not have to be tight. You only need to wear it when you're outside or in mixed public spaces; at your hotel, restaurants with private rooms, and at our women-only events you can take it off.
How do I get an Iran visa?+
Most nationalities need a visa authorization code before applying for the stamp. We handle this for every tour client — you send us a passport scan, we file with the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and you receive the code within 2–3 weeks. With the code you can either get the visa at any Iranian embassy or, for most nationalities, on arrival at Tehran (IKA), Shiraz, Isfahan, Mashhad and Tabriz airports.
Can I use my credit card in Iran?+
No. Due to sanctions, no foreign Visa, Mastercard or Amex card works in Iran. You need to bring all your spending money in cash (USD or EUR are best) and exchange it at official exchanges. We can also issue you a local pre-paid tourist card if you prefer not to carry cash.
What's the dress code beyond the headscarf?+
Long sleeves and trousers or a long skirt. A tunic or coat that covers your hips is the most common style. Sandals are fine. We send a packing list once you book — no need to overthink it.
Do I need to speak Persian?+
Not at all. Our guides translate everything and most younger Iranians in the cities speak some English. In bazaars and small villages your guide stays with you.
Traveling on an Iranian passport
Where can I go without a visa?+
See our full visa guide for the up-to-date list. The most popular destinations for our Iranian clients are Türkiye (visa-free 90 days), Malaysia (15 days), Thailand (visa on arrival), Georgia, Armenia, and Oman.
Can you help me book flights from Tehran?+
Yes. Our flight search on the home page checks real fares from THR, IFN, MHD, SYZ and TBZ. We can ticket on your behalf and accept payment in IRR via local bank transfer.
I don't speak English well. Can you still help?+
Yes. Our concierge team speaks Persian, English, Turkish, Arabic, Thai and Bahasa Melayu. We can match you with a guide at destination who speaks your language.
How do I pay if my card doesn't work abroad?+
We handle most prepayments from our side — hotel deposits, tour fees, transfers — so you only need a small amount of local cash on the ground. We also have arrangements with money-exchange partners in Istanbul, Doha, Dubai, KL and Bangkok where you can pick up local currency on arrival.
Booking & payments
What's the deposit and cancellation policy?+
We hold your spot with a 20% deposit. The balance is due 30 days before departure. Cancellations more than 60 days out get a full refund minus a $90 processing fee; 30–60 days, 50% refund; under 30 days, no refund but we will gladly transfer your booking to a future date or another traveler.
How do I pay you?+
Bank wire (USD, EUR, GBP, TRY), Wise, Revolut, or in-person cash payment at our Istanbul office. Cryptocurrency on request.
Is travel insurance included?+
No, and we strongly recommend you arrange your own. For travel into Iran, a policy that explicitly covers Iran is required for the visa.
